This March marked the 37th anniversary of Women’s History Month. Did you know the origins of this national celebration are connected to education? Dozens of students and schools within a school district in Sonoma, California, organized a week of activities in 1978 to acknowledge the contributions of women to our society and culture. Before long, the idea caught fire. President Jimmy Carter declared a presidential proclamation in 1980 making the week of March 8 National Women’s History Week. Seven years later Congress officially expanded it to the entire month.
A month is hardly enough time to even begin to scratch the surface in recognizing the accomplishments, sacrifices, strengths, talents—and so much more— that women have put forth for our nation and the world. As such, this month we found it particularly timely to align with 2025’s Women’s History Month theme, “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations,” as designated by the National Women’s History Alliance.
We’ve curated some of our favorite episodes with influential women leaders in the academy for your listening pleasure. Hear them share their insights on the business (and the future) of business education.
